ABOUT American Battery Solutions Inc.

Powering tomorrow's energy solutions, today

American Battery Solutions Inc. (“ABS”) is a manufacturer of advanced batteries for commercial, fleet, and industrial on- and off-road vehicles. Located in the heart of the U.S. automotive region with facilities in Michigan and Ohio. ABS was established in 2019 by long-time battery pioneer Subhash Dhar with the goal of reaching the underserved segments of the industrial vehicle markets with a leading team of battery systems experts with decades of experience in designing, developing, and manufacturing advanced battery systems for the transportation industry.  Collectively, from our experience with various OEMs we have launched some of the industry’s most well-known programs, electrifying vehicles for Toyota, General Motors, Fiat-Chrysler, BMW, Daimler-Mercedes and others.

In 2023, ABS was acquired by Komatsu, a world leader in construction, mining, forestry, and industrial heavy equipment in support of Komatsu’s 2050 carbon neutrality goal. ABS is excited to join a 100-year-old global organization with 65,000 employees. Komatsu is deeply rooted in the mining and construction industries where ABS will join them in their efforts to electrify their fleets. ABS will continue to operate as an independent entity serving Komatsu applications and continuing to expand and grow our core commercial, fleet, and industrial business.

We continue to launch new and innovative products into transit bus,eLCV delivery van, recreational boating, lawn maintenance, medium &heavy-duty trucking vehicle & material handling equipment markets. As the centerof excellence for Komatsu we expand our offerings to develop custom batterysystems for the construction, mining, and forestry industry.

As we have grown, ABS has assembled a dedicated and experienced world-class team. Our team is equipped with a deep understanding of high-voltage, automotive-grade battery systems—from concept development and prototyping, to testing and validation, to high-volume production. Meaning no one is more qualified to develop an EV battery that can power your energy needs. ABS stands ready to accommodate future customer growth and looks forward to continuing to be the leader in the battery industry.

Solving the key challenges of electrification

As the world shifts to an electric future, the skills needed to be successful also change. Perhaps the biggest change is the addition of a high-voltage battery system. This transition brings about several key challenges that ABS is well-suited to solve. Successfully developing and integrating these batteries requires a deep knowledge of the battery as a system—since these new generations of energy storage require a knowledge of every engineering field: chemistry, thermal dynamics, mechanical & structural, electronics, electrical, and software. With this knowledge, ABS can solve the challenges of Safety, Performance, Life, Cost and Environment.
